Christmas is a great time of year. But, if you are like my family, you are left with a tree afterwards. What do you do with it?
My neighbors love me, in a matter of speaking and for various reasons. This tree laid in our yard turning beautiful colors as it slowing started to decay. And I am sure that one neighbor certainly had his judicial eye on our yard. Eventually I cut all of the limbs off of the trunk and it is laying in our basement waiting to be called up for one of my great projects that take forever to get accomplished.
Long exposures and digital cameras usually don't go together but I love to let the shutter yawn wide open for seconds at a time. Suck in that light, no matter how long it takes. That's how this composition was born. On a moonlit night, I was once again experimenting with my camera. The result is a gritty, texturized Christmas tree on the border of our neighbor's yard.
