The product of lack of sleep, jet lag and more importantly the high experienced during our trip, the vision for the next year is bold and aggressive. I am cautious to even call it a vision. I am still seeking God on this subject. This pipe dream has been saturated with thought and prayer. So I share it with you now.
The purpose of the trip to Romania was to partner with a church and to help plant a church over there. We got to experience the process and result of church planting. We got ministered to and God spoke loudly. I wanted to take the pictable ministry onto the missions field. It was after all what God had laid on my heart. I wanted to use the pictable to minister and evangelize. Instead God opened more doors. The burden for and connection with the artists was overwhelming. This was just experienced on a small level. This was just a brief taste of what could happen. What if? Here's what we ended up with.
Next June go back to Romania with a small core team of artists from different fields who are missions minded. The purpose of this trip is to hook up with artists over in Romania who have similar interests and to work with them. We want to first encourage them to use their talents for God and then to help them use them. Ministry, missions, and evangelism are the three areas that we want to focus on.
The first part would be to hold seminars in various areas of art lead by different members of the team. We would work with the artists to evaluate what talents and artistic interests that have and then to work on them. Define and then refine. This would probably be set up into a hands on workshop. The progression would lead us to get them out of the church and onto the streets to share. Encourage, edify and equip.
Throughout the time there we would have projects and opportunities for them to use their talents on their own. When we leave the goal is for them to continue to find ways to use their gifts. At the end of the week we may even have some type of exhibit to show their work and then open it up for their friends and others to be exposed to the Gospel.
Next summer I am working with Shannon and Calvary Baptist Church with Sol-Pursuit. This is a youth camp that focuses on missionsboth local and international. The high schoolers will have different areas that they can work in. One area is art and I will be using the pictable ministry as an example. There are 7 one week camps that go from July to August.
When we come back from Romania, the desire is to bring back Alina and Malina back with us. They can help we with the pictable ministry and with Sol-Pusuit. They can also be a great testimony and multicultural aspect of the missions camp. They could also experience America.
Then once Sol-Pusuit is over, we would take the girls back with either the same team of artists or a new group to go on an artistic evangelism tour. We would travel all over Romania and even into other countries to share our talents and use them to share the Gospel. We would be working alongside the artists that we worked with during the first trip. For any of them who feel lead to go can go with us. We would set up in parks and other public places using the knowledge that we gained from the seminars. We would also work with the local church so that it would not end when we left. It would also be a priority to find artists in each community to continue the work.
These are just my thoughts. Who knows what God has in store. May God be glorified in whatever He leads us into.
